ARI
Technologies Receives National PCB Destruction Permit
November
2000 - Kent, WA
ARI
Technologies, Inc. of Kent has received a national
permit from the US Environmental Protection Agency
(EPA) for the destruction of Polychlorinated Biphenyls
(PCB's) in its mobile thermochemical conversion technology
(TCCT).
ARI's
TCCT systems are based on a patented thermal chemical
conversion process that turns hazardous wastes into
harmless byproducts that can be recycled or easily
disposed. The process is now a proven and EPA-approved
alternative to landfilling hazardous wastes such as
asbestos and PCB's. The U.S. Navy, anticipating future
landfill closure to hazardous wastes produced in the
current weapons system dismantling programs, sponsored
the demonstration test of ARI's technology on solid
and liquid PCB's.
Congressman
Dicks recently declared, "ARI's technology will allow
for cheaper and safer disposal of hazardous wastes
produced during the Cold War. The Navy, with Congress'
help, has stepped up to its environmental responsibilities,
and this technology should help bring jobs to the
Puget Sound region."
The
TCCT is commercially available and will be deployed
to support DoD environmental priorities throughout
the world.
ARI's
TCCT technology is sparking considerable interest
in the private sector hazardous waste markets as well.
Delegations from potential customers and strategic
partners have journeyed from other regions of the
U.S., Canada, Europe and Bermuda to observe ARI's
technology at work. Some contract negotiations are
in progress. The most immediate markets of interest
to ARI are areas of the world where land availability
is limited or where environmental concerns have led
to closure of landfills to hazardous waste.
Jerry
Hermanson, President & CEO notes, "With our technology
it is no longer necessary for society to be creating
a legacy of health hazards and liabilities by landfilling
these hazardous wastes."
