ARI Awarded Contract to Conduct Tests as part of Used Building Materials Recovery and Recycling

February, 2003 - Kent, WA —

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Construction Research Engineering Laboratory awarded ARI Technologies, Inc. (ARI) a contract to develop technology to assist the government in its efforts to recover and recycle used building materials. The U.S. Military possesses thousands of unused buildings that are targeted for deconstruction. Many of these buildings were painted repeatedly with lead-based paint. By removing the tainted paint, millions of board feet of valuable lumber can be recovered and recycled. ARI was contracted to help develop technology to remove, concentrate, recover and recycle the lead from used building materials. The success of this project will enhance the feasibility of recovering these building materials and will help keep leachable lead out of landfills by recycling it.
